Day 1 in Lisbon
I can't lie. Business class makes long haul travel sooooo much easier. The 14 hour leg from Melbourne to Dubai didn't feel that long when we both had almost 8 hours sleep lying flat. The second leg from Dubai to Lisbon gave us the time to enjoy the fabulous entertainment system. We arrived in Lisbon at around noon feeling considerably better than we have on previous trips.
We are staying in the Baixa area in Lisbon. Great little apartment in the heart of the city. Lisbon is old (apparently the oldest capital in Europe), hilly, colourful and hectic. Initially, we felt a bit overwhelmed by the noise and traffic but, after a dinner of paella and sangria, we headed down to the waterfront on the Praca do Comercio. The sun was shining, the breeze was blowing, there was a great busker playing and it just felt like a beautiful later summer evening. Tomorrow, we will head out to see some of the major attractions (once we have a refreshing sleep and get onto European time).

Nothing like a paella and sangria to help acclimatise. Looks fabulous already. That refreshing flight clearly worked. D
